A stepper-motor driven variable fiberoptic attenuator has 10,000 steps for 0.01-dB resolution.

A stepper-motor driven variable fiberoptic attenuator has 10,000 steps for 0.01-dB resolution. A digital control interface includes a temperature sensor for improved accuracy. Wavelengths from 440 to 1550 nm for single-mode fiber are available. The attenuator is available as an OEM device or stand-alone instrument with an integrated microprocessor and LCD display. The OEM version can be connected to a PC via a serial interface. A special version is available having a diode laser or other laser source on one side and optical fiber on the other.
