Superluminescent diodes

Aug. 1, 1997
Four superluminescent diodes can be used in fiber optic gyroscopes, optical current transformers, optical time-domain reflectometers, and other optical measuring instruments. The diodes have wider, smoother spectral emission than laser diodes while having higher intensity than LEDs. Models SD1S552P, SD1S101C, SD1S306P, and SD1S501¥come in can, cylindrical, or butterfly packages at wavelengths of 780, 840, 1300, and 1550 nm.
