SpecTran reorganizes corporate structure to better define production roles

Optical-fiber development and production company SpecTran Corp. (Sturbridge, MA) has restructured, splitting its formerly integrated operation into business units. SpecTran Corp. is now a holding company, composed of three wholly owned subsidiaries: SpecTran Communication Fiber Technologies Inc. (Sturbridge, MA), which produces optical fiber for communications applications; SpecTran Specialty Optics Co. (Avon, CT), which develops specialty fibers and components; and Applied Photonic Devices Inc.

SpecTran Corp. is now a holding company, composed of three wholly owned subsidiaries: SpecTran Communication Fiber Technologies Inc. (Sturbridge, MA), which produces optical fiber for communications applications; SpecTran Specialty Optics Co. (Avon, CT), which develops specialty fibers and components; and Applied Photonic Devices Inc. (Danielson, CT), which supplies fiberoptic cable. According to Bruce Cannon of SpecTran, the reorganization was prompted by SpecTran`s desire to better define roles, responsibilities, and authority
