A multiple-quantum-well diode laser that operates at 1.48 µm is designed to pump erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. The diode emits up to 120 mW at 25°C. At 40°C, the diode can emit 100 mW with power consumption of 700 mW. A narrow far-field pattern allows high coupling efficiencies into single-mode fiber.
