ficonTEC Service to showcase fiber assembly/active alignment machine at SPIE Photonics West 2016

Jan. 26, 2016
The AL2000-AA assembly/active alignment machine is dedicated to the assembly of complex hybrid PIC-based transceivers with over 30 active and passive elements such as laser sources, photonics circuitry, lenses, and beamsplitters.

The AL2000-AA assembly/active alignment machine is dedicated to the assembly of complex hybrid PIC-based transceivers with over 30 active and passive elements such as laser sources, photonics circuitry, lenses, and beamsplitters. It also handles pigtailing of optical I/O fibers. The whole process is automated, from the P&P of individual elements from gel packs or blue tapes to the active alignment and bonding of the optical components, which is performed with full beam characterization and measurement. The machine allows sub-micron assembly accuracies and includes positional tracking during the UV epoxy bonding.
