Norwalk, CT, May 75, 2003. NEPCON West 2003, scheduled for October 28-29, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, in San Jose, CA, has been postponed indefinitely. Also postponed for 2003 were the two co-located events, Assembly West and Fiberoptic Automation Expo. These three events first co-located together in December of 2002 in San Jose.
Noting the continued recession in the electronics manufacturing industry coupled with the trend for OEMs to outsource manufacturing and the migration of the electronics manufacturing industry to China, Kelvin Marsden-Kish, VP for Reed Exhibitions, commented, "Events reflect the markets they serve and at this time the Northern California market is not strong enough for NEPCON West to provide the return on investment desired by exhibitors."
Marsden-Kish also stated, "Reed Exhibitions is committed to serving the global electronics manufacturing industry with over sixteen events in North America, Europe, and Asia. We will continue to monitor conditions in the United States and hold events that serve specific markets when conditions are right." The next NEPCON event scheduled in the US is NEPCON East, June 10-11, 2003 in Boston.
The NEPCON events feature the industry's leading suppliers displaying a full range of electronics manufacturing solutions from adhesives and advance microelectronics to test equipment, rework, wire & cable assembly and more. The Assembly exhibitions and conferences are the only events dedicated to product assembly, featuring solutions for building new products, increasing capacity and reducing costs and cycle times. Fiberoptic Automation Expo exhibition and conference provides fiberoptic component manufacturers with the automation solutions and assembly techniques needed to increase production and keep up with demand.
