A bismuth-doped fiber amplifier (BDFA) is designed for O-band optical communication networks.

A bismuth-doped fiber amplifier (BDFA) is designed for O-band optical communication networks. Features include small signal gain >19 dBm @Pin=20 dBm, saturated output power > 16 dBm @Pin=0 dBm, 1310 nm central wavelength, 60 nm gain bandwidth, and < 6 dB noise. It uses gallium arsenide (GaAs) quantum dot pump laser technology at 1195 nm with 700 mW optical power.
