Femtosecond OPA for deep-tissue imaging by Calmar Laser

July 6, 2016
The Bodega femtosecond optical parametric amplifier (FLOPA) integrates an optical parametric amplifier with a high-energy ultrafast fiber laser.

The Bodega femtosecond optical parametric amplifier (FLOPA) from Calmar Laser (Palo Alto, CA) integrates an optical parametric amplifier with a high-energy ultrafast fiber laser to provide sub-200 fs, >200 nJ output pulses at either 1300 or 1700 nm with megahertz repetition rates. Since these wavelengths have low water absorption and low scattering properties, the FLOPA has utility in deep-tissue penetration and three-photon brain imaging. It is based upon the company's passively mode-locked, fiber-based femtosecond laser oscillator with a proprietary chirped pulse fiber amplifier.
