LED illuminator for fluorescence microscopy by Excelitas Technologies

The X-Cite 120LEDBoost LED illuminator provides high-power, broad-spectrum fluorescence excitation from 370 to 700 nm.

The X-Cite 120LEDBoost LED illuminator from Excelitas Technologies (Waltham, MA) provides high-power, broad-spectrum fluorescence excitation from 370 to 700 nm, catering to a wide range of fluorophores and fluorescent proteins. A 40% power increase in the 500–600 nm region provides strong excitation for fluorescent proteins such as mCherry and other red fluorophores, which are generally challenging for LED illuminators. Direct coupling optics ensure bright, uniform illumination when using most fluorescence microscopy systems, without adding mechanical vibration. Electronic shuttering provides sub-millisecond operation while avoiding the vibration and failure risk of mechanical shutters.
