NONINVASIVE BIOIMAGING: NIR-based vascular imaging device wins excellence award
Christie Medical Innovations’ (Memphis, TN) vascular imaging system, VeinViewer Vision, has been recognized as a winner for the 2011 Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA). VeinViewer uses near-infrared (NIR) light and other patented technologies to project a real-time digital image of subcutaneous vasculature directly onto the surface of the skin. Designed for assistance in IV starts and blood draws, VeinViewer is also beneficial in the process of spider and varicose vein treatment.
The MDEA competition is the only awards program that exclusively recognizes contributions and advances in the design of medical products. Entries are evaluated on the basis of the design and engineering features. The 2011 MDEA winners will be honored at a presentation ceremony on Wednesday, June 8, in New York City.
