A model eye with retina tissue phantom from Rowe Technical Design (Dana Point, CA) incorporates a 300-µm-thick, 4.8-mm-diameter retina with 6 layers for clinical and laboratory use with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) systems. A solid-state eye model that matches a median eye optical path length, additional features include a 120-µm-deep foveal pit and a retinal pigment epthelium (RPE)/inner segment (IS)/outer segment (OS) layer with backing choroid.

PRESS RELEASE

Rowe Technical Design, Inc. announces that Revision 6 OCT Model Eye with Retina Tissue Phantom is now in production!

Dana Point, CA. Rowe Technical Design, developers of the 1st commercial optical tissue phantom has announced that their latest version of the combination model eye with retina tissue phantom for OCT and SLO imagers has now been released for full serial production. “This is the culmination of almost 5 years of R&D and low volume limited runs” notes T. Scott Rowe, company founder and president. “We are extremely pleased to have our critical processes validated and in place, ready for successful volume manufacturing. This is the most realistic retina we have ever produced!” The Revision 6 model eye incorporates a 4.8 mm diameter retina with 6 layers, an anatomically accurate foveal pit, and a RPE/IS/OS layer with backing choroid, all easily accessible through a solid state eye model that matches a median eye optical path length. Rowe also points out the ever increasing array of uses for the device…”No longer is this just a laboratory tool, although we do have a good number of labs who are using these on a regular basis” he notes, “we also have clinicians purchasing these for OCT technician training, sales and marketing personnel have picked these up for use in trade shows, companies are using these for OCT development and repair, and now clinical trial managers using these for cross-checking clinical trial sites where retinal thickness measurements are a critical parameter”.
