The Prime BSI scientific CMOS camera from Photometrics (Tucson, AZ) has utility in live-cell imaging techniques such as total internal reflection fluorescence, ratiometric imaging, and light-sheet microscopy. The camera offers 95% quantum efficiency and 6.5 × 6.5 µm pixel area to meet the requirements for Nyquist spatial sampling at 60X magnification, allowing for the collection of nearly all available light and maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio of experiments while preserving cellular features and improving image resolution. The camera captures images using the full microscope field-of-view at over 47 frames/s with 16-bit images and 94 frames/s with 12-bit images.
