June 28-GSI Lumonics announces company name change to GSI Group Inc.

GSI Lumonics Inc. has announced a company name change from GSI Lumonics Inc. to GSI Group Inc. The company also announced a new trading symbol on the NASDAQ stock exchange: GSIG. GSI Group will be led by the same management team.

The company's new name reflects an organization composed of diverse yet related high technology businesses, each of which supplies unique value to its customer base. In conjunction with the company name change, GSI Group will place more emphasis on the individual product brands that its various customer groups rely upon: General Scanning, MicroE Systems, Westwind, and General Optics precision motion products; JK, Spectron, Lumonics, and eCO2 lasers; and WaferMark, WaferRepair, WaferTrim, CircuitTrim, and SVS laser systems.
