Montréal, QC, Canada--Fiber laser specialist Genia Photonics has formed a strategic partnership and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT; Arlington, VA), a not-for-profit, strategic investment firm that delivers innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is a primary customer associated with the new partnership.

Dr. François Gonthier, Genia Photonics' CEO, notes that the partnership will foster new opportunities for leveraging the company's fiber-based technologies into related applications.

In addition to defense and security applications, Genia Photonics’ Synchronized Programmable Laser platform has applications such as nonlinear spectroscopy for the biomedical and industrial communities. Comprised in a single alignment-free unit for transport in many environments, the laser can sweep wavelengths in any pattern and sequence, says Dr. Alain Villeneuve, Genia Photonics' CTO.
