Los Angeles, CA--Yutong Wu was appointed general manager, Albany Operations, and director of commercial marketing for APIC/CNSE to commercialize integrated optoelectronic devices.

Los Angeles, CA--APIC Corporation and PhotonIC Corporation chairman and CEO Raj Dutt announced the appointment of Yutong Wu as general manager, Albany Operations, and director of commercial marketing. Wu will lead the joint APIC/College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) team in Albany, NY to develop a process for volume production of integrated optoelectronic devices in a $10 million dollar research program and bring it to the commercial marketplace.

"CNSE is world renowned as the leader in education, research, development, and deployment in the emerging disciplines of nanoscience, nanoengineering, nanobioscience, and nanoeconomics" says Dr. Dutt. "And we are very proud that the APIC/CNSE partnership will advance joint development and commercialization of innovative 'green' technology to enable faster computer chips that use significantly less power." Apic Corporation is working to commercialize chip technology that helps computer processors consume up to 90% less energy and run up to 60% faster--a product that eventually could be used broadly by chip makers in devices like servers.

Wu has more than 15 years of experience in the semiconductor and electronics industries, working most recently as program manager for technology transfer at IBM's System and Technology Group, where he spent more than four years in Singapore managing manufacturing outsourcing operations. Prior to that, Wu held various technical and managerial positions in IBM's microelectronics business. Wu holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey at New Brunswick, and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Physics from University of Science and Technology of China. He also holds a MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

APIC Corporation, headquartered in Culver City, CA, has offices in Washington DC; Albany, NY; Boston, MA; Palo Alto, CA; Melbourne, FL, and advanced Photonics laboratory facilities in Honolulu, HI. APIC Corporation is a supplier to the US Military in the development of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) including the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.
