Brussels, Belgium--The European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) has named Carlos Lee as its next Director General, effective immediately. He succeeds Thomas Pearsall, who has led the association since its founding in 2003.

Lee previously served as Director General for SEMI Europe, where he led the advocacy program. He brings 15 years of industry association management experience to the role, having built membership value through standardization, collaboration, networking platforms, and events.

Lee's goal will be further expand the solid value proposition for EPIC's members active in displays, lasers, lighting, optical fibers, optics, semiconductor, photovoltaics, sensors, telecommunication, and other critical photonic-related fields, he explains. Along with his appointment, EPIC will open an office in Brussels to implement closer collaboration with the EU in order to better represent the interests of the consortium's members and photonics, he says.
