Orlando, FL--Nazanin Hoghooghi of the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers (CREOL) at the University of Central Florida recently won the 2011/2012 CREOL Student of the Year award and $500. She won the award for her recent work in ultrafast photonics.
Hoghooghi received her BS in computer engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 2005 and MS in optical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN) in 2007. She joined CREOL in August 2007, where she is pursuing her Ph.D. in optics as a member of the Ultrafast Photonics group under Professor Peter Delfyett. She is the author or coauthor of nine journal papers, 17 conference presentations, and one patent.
