Photonics Industries picosecond lasers suit HB-LED device scribing

May 17, 2011
The RG Series diode-pumped picosecond lasers achieve less than 25 ps nominal pulse widths.

The RG Series diode-pumped picosecond lasers achieve <25 ps nominal pulse widths while maintaining TEM00 mode quality for applications such as scribing high-brightness LED (HB-LED) devices and 8G flat-panel display (FPD) systems. Infrared (IR) versions at 30 and 45 W at 1 MHz are also available, with 532, 355, and 266 nm harmonic output as needed. The 355 nm version recently completed 3 hr vibration testing with its power on under 100 lb. of force, at over 1 in. displacement, and at 6 Hz, making it suitable for mounting to a movable gantry.Photonics Industries

PRESS RELEASE

Photonics Industries completes live vibration testing of its compact robust pico second lasers for industrial applications for Laser Munich Show

(Bohemia, NY – May 13, 2011) – Industrially robust ps laser are required for the manufacturing of many novel emerging market products such as the scribing high brightness LED (HBLED) devices and 8G Flat Panel Display (FPD) systems.

Photonics Industries’ RG Series diode pumped pico-second lasers are compact enough that they can be directly mounted to a movable gantry. However, when industrial laser are utilized in this fashion they are subject to forces that laser are rarely tested to in a live laser operating condition. While it is common to vibration test lasers when they are not power up to simulate shipping and handling conditions, it is not so common to actively vibration stress test lasers while they operating in a live “laser on” condition.

Photonics Industries’ 355nm ps lasers were vibration tested for 3 hrs with the “Laser on” condition under the following vibration test conditions:

  • A 100 lb force
  • Over 1 in displacement
  • At 6Hz

Utilizing a transportation Simulator shaker table equipment. The transportation simulator’s motion is a CIRCULAR SYNCHRONOUS MOTION. Vectorally, the laser sees 3G at each peak of the sinusoid. The laser was strapped to the shaker table as shown in the following photo:

Photonics Industries’ RG Series diode pumped pico-second lasers achieve <25ps nominal pulse widths all while still maintaining TEM00 mode quality in a compact, industrial reliable package. Higher power IR versions (30W and 45W @ 1MHz) are also available with harmonic output such as 532nm, 355nm and 266nm as needed.
