Lumics expands its 808 nm line of fiber-coupled diode lasers

Lumics has expanded its 808 nm line of fiber-coupled diode lasers. The newest entrant provides 2.5W out of a 50-µm-diameter optical fiber. This high-brightness module is perfectly adapted for applications in printing (computer to plate) and medical use.

Lumics has expanded its 808 nm line of fiber-coupled diode lasers. The newest entrant provides 2.5W out of a 50-µm-diameter optical fiber. This high-brightness module is perfectly adapted for applications in printing (computer to plate) and medical use. Since this technology is based on single emitters, the devices have a relatively low drive current. All diodes are hermetically sealed, no micro-optics are used, and have tested lifetime of better than 100,000 hours MTTF. Direct-diode applications offer the advantages of a small footprint, no consumables, highest wall-plug efficiency, no micro-optics, and very competitive pricing. The lasers are being presented at Laser, World of Photonics 2009 in Munich.

Lumics GmbH - Berlin has expanded its 808nm line of fiber-coupled diode lasers. The newest entrant provides 2.5W out of a 50-µm-diameter. optical fiber. This high brightness module is perfectly adapted for applications in printing (computer to plate) and medical use.

Since this technology is based on single emitters, the devices have a comparable low drive current. All diodes are hermetically sealed, and no micro-optics are used. All lasers have gone through intensive burn in and testing, and include a test report guaranteeing a lifetime of >100.000h MTTF.

Direct diode applications do have the major advantages of small footprint, no consumables, highest wall plug efficiency, no micro - optics since it is an "all –in- fiber" design, and last but not least very
competitive pricing. Lumics can offer a low US$ per Watt-output ratio for OEM quantities.
