Video: July 28, 2023 Photonics Hot List

July 28, 2023
In this episode, we cover an imaging technique that creates whole-body 3D maps, an elusive phenomenon now in the physics spotlight, and a fiber-optic tool that offers sensing specificity.

In this episode of Photonics Hot List...

A unique imaging technique is bringing bio researchers deep inside the body’s complex systems. Called wildDISCO, the approach creates an atlas, of sorts, using standard antibodies to map the entire body with fluorescent markers.

Advanced computing technology has helped an international team of physicists to finally witness and validate the long-studied Anderson localization of light phenomenon. This has been elusive until now, given complexities in electromagnetic wave interference.

New plug-and-play fiber-optic sensors can monitor neurochemicals in vivo through integration of optical fibers with genetically engineered cells, offering unprecedented chemical specificity and precision.
