Microtech Welding to expand in Fort Wayne

September 12--Fort Wayne-based Microtech Welding Corp. has begun construction on a new production facility and office building

September 12--Microtech Welding Corp., a Fort Wayne, IN-based precision microscopic and laser welding service, announced that construction has started on a new production and office building. Construction of the 7500-square-foot, $400,000 building is scheduled to be completed next January.

"The start of construction of our new facility is an exciting next step in this company's growth," says Robert F. Christman, company president. "This expansion places Microtech in a position to be even more responsive to our customers' needs for high-accuracy welding."

"Microtech Welding Corp. serves an important manufacturing segment in the biomedical manufacturing industry and is on the leading edge of this community's growing biomedical cluster," states Marla Irving, Allen County Board of Commissioners. On September 15, Allen County Council will consider granting tax abatement on real property improvements related to the construction project.

Microtech Welding Corp. was founded by Christman in 1998 to provide accurate and precise welding to the biomedical device manufacturing and tooling industries in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The company employs seven full-time workers at its manufacturing and office facility in Fort Wayne.
