New Jersey manufacturer bolsters laser cutting capabilities

TAM Metal Products has advanced its service capabilities with the purchase of a Mitsubishi eX-S CO2 laser cutting machine.

TAM Metal Products (Mahwah, NJ), a manufacturer dedicated to producing metal products and mechanical assemblies primarily for the defense, aerospace, and medical industries, continues to advance its service capabilities with the purchase of a Mitsubishi eX-S CO2laser cutting machine. The addition is a major investment in company’s ability to perform their demanding work more quickly and resource-efficiently.

The family-owned business has provided complex metal parts to some of the biggest companies in the world since 1958. TAM Metal is an ISO-9001:2000- and AS9100:2004-certified facility and has achieved Certified Supplier status with many of the biggest global brands in aerospace, defense, and telecom. The 50,000-sq-ft. facility is staffed by an experienced team that operates the most updated manufacturing machinery.

Operations manager Ed Day stated they chose the eX-S machine because it eliminates both setup and finishing steps required with some of their other machines, saving time and improving quality along the way.

Mitsubishi’s patented three-axis, cross-flow resonator delivers the highest cutting power per watt available and its simplified resonator design eliminates the need for expensive quartz tubes and turbine blower systems, optimizes cutting power, and requires 2-5 times less maintenance than other laser equipment on the market.

The machine delivers low running costs and eco-friendly features for power and gas consumption, and stable operation for greater productivity. The ECO mode cuts running costs by up to 90% during standby. Carbon-dioxide emissions are reduced by around 30% compared to competitor machines.
