The LASYS 2016 international trade fair drew more than 6000 visitors, representing a 10% increase in attendance.

The LASYS 2016 international trade fair for laser material processing, held May 31st through June 2nd in Stuttgart, Germany, drew more than 6000 visitors, representing a 10% increase in attendance from the previous event in 2014. One hundred eighty-one exhibitors from 15 countries presented lasers as a versatile tool for every production process.

Three-quarters of the attendees came from industry, with strong presence from the mechanical engineering, motor vehicle construction, and optics industries, followed by plant and apparatus construction, and metal working and processing. The proportion of international visitors also rose from 22 to 27% compared with the previous event, with 39 countries represented. With decision-makers accounting for 78% of attendees, the event has been at a constantly high level for years. One in four of these visitors said they were intending to invest more than €200,000 (over $227,000). The visitors were primarily interested in laser production systems for marking and labeling technology, bonding technology, and surface technology.

"Since 97% of our visitors said they would recommend LASYS to other people, this is a clear indication that our concept of live demonstrations of lasers is very popular," says Gunnar Mey, Department Director Industry at Messe Stuttgart. "Our exhibitors presented a total of 92 machines and systems at LASYS, including some premieres."

The next LASYS event will be held June 5-7, 2018, again in combination with the Stuttgart Laser Technology Forum (SLT).
