A line of sapphire cover glass windows and lenses has utility with 1064nm fiber laser cutting systems.

A line of sapphire cover glass windows and lenses from Laser Research Optics (Providence, RI) has utility with 1064nm fiber laser cutting systems, as they are more durable than fused silica and therefore reduce the need for cover glass changes. The windows and lenses feature Moh 9 hardness and have antireflection coatings on both sides to provide transmission of >99.5% at 1.06µm, with >90% at 650–670nm. Capable of withstanding steel splatter, flash, and debris, they also feature a 10-5 scratch-dig finish and provide 1/4-wave transmitted wavefront. Sizes from 1/2 to 2in. are available. Sapphire C-Plane windows coated on one or two sides are also offered.
