AdamsTech installs third dieboard laser in less than six months

April 5, 2016
Steel-rule die making equipment supplier AdamsTech has installed a new Penta dieboard laser at CardPak.

AdamsTech (Boulder, CO), which supplies equipment to the steel-rule die making industry, has installed a new Penta dieboard laser with a Rofin-Sinar laser source at CardPak (Solon, OH). This is their third installation of its kind in the past six months, with more in the works. CardPak reports that the installation has already increased production significantly.

According to Greg Ward, die making product manager for North America at AdamsTech, an installation of this type requires extensive and careful planning. "Our team began the pre-installation planning as soon as CardPak made the decision to purchase this upgrade to their existing die shop operations. We arranged the shipping and importation, customs clearance, scheduling, and rigging, as well as planning with electricians and other outside contractors. We were also able to assist CardPak in the layout and positioning of the equipment to maximize efficiency in their workflow," Ward explains.

The AdamsTech team moved in and assembled the Penta OF2515 dieboard laser during a weekend to minimize production interference. The laser was producing dieboards on the same day that the technician completed the resonator startup.

"We didn't want any finger-pointing when faced with the many challenges of installing a laser of this size and capability," stresses Dave Burkhart, CardPak VP of operations. "We were interested in a 'turn-key' solution, where we didn't have to worry about import, shipping, or rigging. AdamsTech delivered the goods, complete with assembly, installation, and training."

AdamsTech, headquartered in Boulder, has additional technicians based in regional service offices in New York, Missouri, and California. They also cover Latin America from Mexico City, Ecuador, and Brazil.
