Rofin-Sinar (Hamburg, Germany), an industrial laser manufacturer, has appointed Dr. Stefan Ruppik as an additional director of the company, effective November 1, 2015. In his new role, Ruppik is responsible for the R&D and Production and Logistics business areas at the Hamburg location, which is responsible for the company's worldwide activities in laser macroprocessing.
In Ruppik's time with the company, he initially led the team for electrical technology and radio frequency technology, where he was responsible for further developing high-frequency excitation for the CO2 slab laser. After holding additional management positions in solid-state laser development, he ultimately took over the director of R&D position in 2006. He now coordinates worldwide development of high-power fiber lasers.
