UK laser cutting firm expands locations
Hixon, Stafford, UK - SSC Laser Cutting, which recently celebrated sales of more than $1 million in one month, is planning to open its seventh manufacturing location, coming on the back of the establishment of the firm's Bristol plant in December.
According to The Sentinel (Stafford), SSC is confident that expanding the number of sites will support further rapid growth for the company, which reported a record sales month in April. This well-performing second quarter was a result of the efforts of the staff in Derby, Sunderland, Slough, and Motherwell, while the Bristol base has already exceeded its targets.
"The Bristol site has offered a really impressive service to companies who buy our laser engineered components, including flat and folded laser profiles and tube laser components," said Andy Evans, sales director. "The new Bristol site is not alone in its strong performance though, as all of our divisions are doing very well with another particularly noteworthy performance from our Scotland site."
Evans said confidence in UK manufacturing was among the factors driving the company's expansion. SSC was formed in 2000 as a specialist in rapid delivery of precision laser engineered components. In 2007, it opened a second base and by the end of last year had expanded to six sites.
According to Evans, the company’s proposed new base, in an undisclosed location, will initially be headed up by a sales team: "We have plans for this facility to follow the same trajectory of growth as the previous facilities have, expanding from an initial two-to-three person sales office up to a 10-person production facility."
