Komatsu integrates laser cutting business to strengthen sales

April 3, 2013
Komatsu NTC Ltd. has split its laser cutting machine business and transferred it to Komatsu Industries Corp.

Ishikawa, Japan - Komatsu Ltd. has announced that Komatsu NTC Ltd. split its laser cutting machine business and transferred it to Komatsu Industries Corp. on April 1, 2013. As a result, the development, sales, and service operations of Komatsu NTC's laser cutting machine business was integrated into Komatsu Industries' sheet-metal machine business. Starting today, all laser cutting machines will be traded under one Komatsu brand.

Previously, two companies of the Komatsu Group served the same clients with different products, i.e., punching presses, shears (for blank and cutting processes), and press brakes (for the bending process) by Komatsu Industries, and laser cutting machines (for the blank process) by Komatsu NTC. To eliminate overlapping utilization of resources, Komatsu Industries is going to exclusively engage in sales and service operations of sheet-metal machines, thereby improving operational efficiency. Komatsu Industries is also going to consolidate its development capacity of industrial machinery and integrate Komatsu Group's sheet-metal machine technologies, positioned to develop innovative technologies and products.

Meanwhile, Komatsu NTC remains responsible for the QCD (quality, costs and delivery) improvement of existing laser cutting machines as well as the production and installation of all models, thereby continuing to support Komatsu Industries' sheet-metal machine business
