Laser cutting ultra-thin exotic stone

April 1, 2013
Grama Blend's technology can cut natural stone into 1/8-inch thick, ultra-lightweight material.

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Exotic stone importer Marble Of The World, has become the exclusive U.S. distributor for Grama Blend, a German-based company that fabricates exotic stone into ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight material suitable for yachts, aircraft, RVs, elevators, ceilings, and other applications that require thin, lightweight material.

For the first time ever, designers and manufacturers can now specify natural stone for projects that previously could never incorporate stone due to weight restrictions. Grama Blend's laser cutting technology is considered to be a breakthrough in the stone industry that will significantly expand the use of genuine stone by designers, architects, builders, and manufacturers.

Using proprietary laser technology, natural stone is cut to a remarkable 1/8-inch thickness, which would be too fragile to transport or install. It is then bonded to a rigid lightweight backing that makes it useful for any application requiring lightweight material.
