Shanghai High-Strength Laser Processing Union signing and election

The aim of the union is to upgrade the laser processing industry in Shanghai.

Beijing, China - Five entities signed a joint contract in March to boost the laser processing application field in Shanghai and upgrade the laser processing industry. These entities include Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES), Shanghai Laser Society, Shanghai Machinery Manufacturing Technology Research Institute Co. Ltd, and Unity Prima of Shanghai Co. Ltd.

SJTU president Zhang Jie was elected as the Union's director-general. Elected vice directors were: the president of SUES, Ding Xiaodong; the president of Shanghai Laser Society, Chen Liangyao; the director of Shanghai Machinery Manufacturing Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd Ye Jian; and the GM of the Unity Prima of Shanghai, Luo Jingwen. SJTU professor Xu Jianqiu and SUES professor Zhang Guangjun were elected directors of the first session of the executive committee. The academicians of CAE, Fan Dianyuan and Zhuang Songlin, were elected as the directors of the first session's technology & experts committee.

Zhang Guangjun introduced the general goal and the working plan of the Union and reported on the specific implementation plan. On behalf of the technology & experts committee, SJTU professor Xia Yuxing discussed the importance of the union's foundation and its direction of development.

Experts and scholars from relevant universities, institutes, corporations, and functional departments attended the March conference hosted by Feng Yan, vice dean of SJTU Scientific Research Institute.
