Trieste, Italy - Fincantieri and its Monfalcone Shipyard have ordered a unique profile processing line and a one-sided fiber laser welding station using a laser-hybrid process and integrated milling from Pemamek. The contract is in the order of several million euros.

Previously supplied vision robot stations for welding panels laid the groundwork for further cooperation between the two companies. The new contract consists of a full turn-key delivery with designing, manufacturing, assembly, installation, and training that will occur during this summer at Monfalcone.

In the project, Pemamek adapted its existing technology to Fincantieri's specific requirements. The profile processing line, which consists of edge blasting and milling functions before a fully robotized cutting and sorting system, uses advanced technology. The solution is highly automated to provide superior capacity and quality to shipyard production.

The plate joining system is reportedly the first one of its kind and size on the market and consists of a huge one-sided laser welding station with a laser hybrid-welding process integrated together with a tandem MAG process for welding various range of thicknesses. The welding power source is a fiber laser, one of the biggest for plate joining.

Fincantieri, heir to the tradition of Italian shipbuilding and one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world, designs and constructs complex ships with high technological content such as merchant and naval vessels, offshore, and mega yachts. The company also constructs cruise ships and large ferries. Moreover, it is the reference builder for a wide range of ship types, including surface vessels (frigates, corvettes, and patrol vessels) and submarines.

Pemamek Ltd.'s systems and customer support services are specifically engineered for the ship building and offshore, heavy engineering, mobile machinery, civil construction, industrial boiler, wind energy, and process and nuclear industries. PEMA products and services are used in more than 50 countries around the world.
