JPSA Laser names new president

Charlie Cuneo takes over responsibilities as president from Jeffery Sercel who will continue at the company as chairman and chief scientist

Cuneo is a graduate of Yale University and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School where he concentrated on marketing and international business. He was most recently executive vice president of ERG Global, a company providing interim and temporary executive management resources to companies worldwide. Prior to this position, he was COO of Gibson Guitars of Nashville, TN. He has served as president and chief operating officer for software company NeuMath Inc. Cuneo was also president and chief operating officer for Unitek Benchmark, a manufacturer of hermetic sealing systems for microelectronics, a subsidiary of laser manufacturer Unitek Miyachi Corp. Cuneo has held management positions for several other technology companies in the Northeast including Waters, Millipore Corporation, ADE Corporation, Credence Systems, and Teradyne Inc.

DILAS Industrial Laser Systems (Mainz, Germany) announced the power extension to 500W, 400µm fiber at 980nm for its COMPACT Series, a product line of fiber-coupled, turnkey diode laser systems. The product uses DILAS' conduction-cooled laser diode bars. It comes with an industrial water-to-air chiller, power supply, and an integrated control unit. The turnkey diode laser system is controllable via 24V interface signals and its compact 19in rack mounts make it easy to integrate.
