Trumpf assumes control of SPI Lasers

Laser and machine-tool manufacturer Trumpf (Ditzingen, Germany) has assumed control of SPI Lasers (Southampton, England) effective October 7, 2008. The bid submitted by Trumpf became effective after shareholders of SPI Lasers approved the sale of more than 90% of the company's shares to Trumpf.

PhotoMachining Inc., Pelham, NH, has announced that it has added a well-known laser scientist, Dr. Francis (Bo) Burns, to its staff. He holds the title of applications scientist at the company and will work with customers to develop laser based manufacturing processes.
