Amplitude set to acquire Continuum Lasers

Ultrafast laser maker Amplitude (which encompasses Amplitude Technologies and Amplitude Systèmes) has entered into a definitive agreement with Continuum Lasers—a deal in which it will acquire the company from its current owner, GSI Group (Bedford, MA).

Paris, France - Ultrafast laser maker Amplitude (which encompasses Amplitude Technologies and Amplitude Systèmes) has entered into a definitive agreement with Continuum Lasers (San Jose, CA)—a deal in which it will acquire the company from its current owner, GSI Group (Bedford, MA).

Upon completion of the transaction, Amplitude will have launched a transformative growth phase with a much wider product offering and a comprehensive global presence. Following the integration phase, the total number of people employed by the new entity will increase to 270 from 200 and turnover should reach $84 million. Overall, the combined company will have a diversified foundation for sustained growth and its worldwide distribution capacities will be considerably strengthened.

This acquisition will allow Amplitude Technologies to serve a more diverse customer base, with a well-differentiated product mix that will sustain growth. The combined portfolio of products and services will allow the joint companies to more efficiently meet demands in the laser marketplace.

The combination with Continuum Lasers expands and accelerates Amplitude's corporate strategy, while strengthening Amplitude as a durable and innovative partner for researchers and industrial customers engaged in a variety of scientific and medical fields.
