To assist the automotive industry in complying with upcoming emission standards, Bosch developed laser-drilled spray holes as a performance enhancement to its HDEV5 gasoline direct-injection fuel injectors. The company's laser drilling process, called ultrashort pulse laser drilling, is said to allow automakers to efficiently manufacture different hole diameters and shapes in one nozzle. The product was first launched on the 2012 Audi A3, and has since been launched with nine customers on 14 projects globally.
This year's PACE Awards took place on April 7, 2014, at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit, MI. For more information, please visit www.paceaward.com.
