Laser marking systems for PET bottles

Two higher-watt versions of ID Technology's Macsa K-1000 laser marking systems specifically target laser marking of PET bottles.

ID Technology, Fort Worth, TX, has released new higher-watt versions of its Macsa K-1000 laser marking systems, specifically targeting coding of plastic PET bottles.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a recyclable plastic widely used in the beverage industry. ID Technology's Macsa K-1000 series 9.3 μm CO2 laser "foams" the surface of a PET bottle, creating a whitish mark that is visible with high contrast, with virtually no material penetration or puncture. IDT previously offered a 30 W version of its Macsa K-1000 series 9.3 μm CO2 laser. These new releases expand the lineup with 60 W and 80 W versions, and specifically target laser marking of PET bottles, the company tells ILS.

The company's laser marking systems are able to print up to four lines of text, logos, graphics, 2-D and linear bar codes. The K-series lasers use mirror tracking systems, and contain an "auto-start" feature when using simple codes triggered off calendar settings. Combined with the company's Crystal Font" the laser marking systems are particularly effective for high-speed marking of PET, the company says.
