3-axis fiber laser marker

Keyence's MD-F5100 Series, 50W 3-axis fiber laser system offers high-speed laser marking and deep laser engraving on metal and plastic.

Keyence, Itasca, IL, has introduced a new 3-axis fiber laser system for high-speed laser marking and laser engraving on metal and plastic.

The MD-F5100 Series, a 50 W update to the company's 30 W laser marking systems, offers consistent marking quality on 3D surfaces and the far edges of the marking field (300 × 300 mm). New functions include "scratch control" which moves the laser beam back and forth across a shorter distance in the cut width to focus the energy; and "deep engraving" which changes the focal distance after each path to process with maximum energy density. A "wobble control" function moves the lasers in a circular pattern to create a thick character and keep the energy concentrated, significantly reducing marking times for distinct black characters on metal without swelling or cracking.

The system can flexibly support multiple product types being marked on the same production line -- instead of changing the machine tooling, simply change the program. Optimum laser scanning control can be selected to match the application, improving marking time and quality in nearly every application.
