Whisper-quiet portable chillers for cooling lasers

PolyScience says its new 6000 Series portable chillers for cooling lasers are up to 25% quieter, with noise levels below that of conversational speech.

PolyScience, Niles, IL, a division of Preston Industries, has six new 3/4 and 1 HP chillers that it says are up to 25% quieter, with noise levels below that of conversational speech.

The new 6000 Series systems, for heat removal such as in laser etching, are capable of delivering up to 2900 W of cooling at 20°C, with a patent-pending "WhisperCool" technology that reduces part-load noise to levels below that of conversational speech. The technology also optimizes compressor and evaporator performance to decrease energy consumption and prolong compressor life.

The chillers maintain process temperatures from -10°C to +40°C, with ±0.1°C stability. A heater option extends the top-range temperature to +50°C with the ability to apply heat up to 70°Cideal for laser systems that must be brought up to temperature prior to operation.

The chillers are available with turbine, positive displacement, or centrifugal pumps. Other standard features include extra-large digital readouts for temperature and pressure/flow rate, one-touch temperature control, temperature tracking/control capability, and integral temperature, pressure, and flow alarms.
