Laser roadshow hits Eastern Europe

July 6, 2012
Trumpf's mobile laser demonstration center brought the world of laser technology to prospective customers in Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia, with a special focus on automotive applications.

Ditzingen, Germany -- Trumpf's mobile laser demonstration center traveled in May of this year through Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, proving at least as successful as last year's round trip through Germany, with new customers making up over 50 percent of the generated leads, according to the company. (Trump held a laser-cutting seminar last month at its North American headquarters in Farmington, CT.)

"An average of 40 visitors boarded the mobile demonstration center at each of its stops. The biggest crowd was in Gliwice, where over 150 visitors lined up to enter the truck," reports Andrzej Janiszewski, director of the company's operations in Poland. "The laser truck made a strong impression on the visitors [...] The unusual setting created a relaxed mood that was conducive to negotiations leading to possible new contracts," he adds.

For many potential customers, it was their first direct encounter with the world of laser technology, and they were eager to discover more about its applications. "The Trumpf scanner optics are the ideal solution for our welding operations," said Marián Kubala from Slovakian company Precision Tubes Europe s.r.o. "We learnt a lot from our visit to the laser roadshow, which was a very important and enriching experience." Trumpf reports similarly positive comments from representatives of the major car manufacturers and automotive suppliers -- a series of lectures on applications of laser technology in the automotive industry were a special feature of this year's tour.

"The roadshow has enabled us to identify numerous qualified leads, and our national subsidiaries have been able to profit from the occasion to enter into contact with a large number of local customers," added Kurt Mann, director of sales and marketing for eastern Europe at Trumpf Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH.
