TAO names nLIGHT's Scott Keeney as 2019 Technology Executive of the Year

Feb. 27, 2019
Scott Keeney, co-founder and CEO of nLIGHT, will win the 2019 Sam Blackman Award by the Technology Association of Oregon.

Scott Keeney, co-founder and CEO of high-power semiconductor and fiber laser maker nLIGHT (NASDAQ: LASR; Vancouver, WA), has been selected as winner of the 2019 Sam Blackman Award by the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO; Portland, OR). Formerly known as the Technology Executive of the Year, the award honors executives of Oregon- and Southwest-Washington-based technology companies for excellence in industry leadership, as well as the individual’s positive impact in the greater community.

The award was renamed in honor of Sam Blackman, AWS Elemental founder and 2015 Technology Executive of the Year winner who passed away in August 2017.

Keeney's leadership of nLIGHTand his ongoing contributions to the technology community made him the best fit for the 2019 Sam Blackman Award, says Skip Newberry, president and CEO of TAO. "In addition to leading nLIGHT through its IPO, Scott is committed to developing the next generation of technology workers by volunteering time and resources to local public schools. He absolutely embodies what Sam believed in and it’s a privilege to name him this year's award recipient," Newberry adds.

Keeney will be recognized at the Oregon Technology Awards ceremony on April 17, 2019. Now in its 35th year, the Oregon Technology Awards celebrates excellence and achievement within the region's vibrant technology community.
