March 29--BFi OPTiLAS International will become one of the channels to market for Osram Opto Semiconductors' range of high-power laser diode products in Europe.

Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Osram GmbH since 2001. Originally part of the semiconductor group at Siemens AG, the company has more than 30 years of experience in developing and manufacturing optical semiconductor components. The company reportedly is the second largest manufacturer of optical semiconductors in the world in the lighting, sensor, and visualization sectors.

The collaboration involves high-power semiconductor bars (up to 80 watts CW and 150 watts QCW), a "Sirilas" high-power laser diode package (30 watts, compact, low-cost TO263 package), single emitters (0.5 to 2 watts), pulsed laser diodes, and customized packages.
