Waltham, Mass. – The next meeting of the Northeast Regional Chapter of the Laser Institute of America will be held here on Wed., November 17, 5:30 to 8:30 pm, at The Doubletree Waltham [Updated]. The meeting will feature Mike Fitts, director, and Adam Pinard, engineering manager, from Cambridge Technology to discuss "A New Concept in Optical Scanning Control and Performance."

Cambridge Technology will share its latest optical scanning technology with a presentation and demonstration of a new approach to laser beam steering. The approach used 3D Vector Trajectory PlanningTM (3D-VTP) to change the way users design, program, and use scanners for laser material processing. Based on the company's new Lightning II integrated scanning platform, the results include: faster system development, programming & optimization and higher performance in both speed and accuracy. Benefits include 20 to 100% higher throughput in material processing systems. A brief overview of other Cambridge Technology 2- and 3-axis scan and control systems will also be presented.

The Doubletree Waltham [Updated] is located at 550 Winter Street, Waltham, Mass. Please RSVP to Linda Zermani at [email protected]. Cost is $35 per person, including a sit-down dinner. Please register early as the organizers expect this event to be "sold out."
