Stuttgart, Germany – The second LASYS, the international trade fair for system solutions in laser material processing, came to an end on June 10, 2010, after three trade fair days. The 186 exhibitors showcased laser systems and components, processes, laser applications, product solutions and services. Despite the still tense economic situation, more interested parties (~3800) came to Stuttgart than two years ago (3444).

In total, 44% of visitors made a journey of more than 300 kilometres to LASYS 2010. The percentage of people travelling from outside of Germany rose from 24% to 27%, which included many foreign visitor delegations.

The visitors came from the optical industry, automotive industry, metal-processing industry, as well as the electrical and electronics industry. Visitors were interested in processing metals, non-metals, and plastic materials. Every second visitor wanted information on laser manufacturing systems for micro-material processing or precision technology. There was also, however, a large interest in laser manufacturing systems for macro material processing, processes such as laser applications and product solutions, process control and quality assurance, as well as system periphery and components of laser manufacturing technology.

Among visitors surveyed, 77% want to invest now and 53% want to invest in the next six months. This tendency is also confirmed on the part of the exhibitors.

The location of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre was noticeable, with its location directly beside Stuttgart Airport. Almost every fifth visitor (19%) travelled by airplane.

An excellent accompanying program with a free consultation and advice center for visitors, the “Solution Centre - Meet the Experts”. There were also the special show “Cars made by Laser," Stuttgart Laser Days SLT ’10, the 11th International Symposium for “Laser Precision Microfabrication” LPM 2010, the 50th anniversary of the laser conference, a “short course” for laser beginners, as well as a series of lectures in “Lasers in Action," which gave the visitors a variety of background information on laser materials. See this link for more information on all the extra programs.

LASYS will take place again from June 12-14, 2012 (revised date). Contact: www.messe-stuttgart.de.
