Dusseldorf, Germany – LPKF Laser & Electronics AG has won the Innovation Award in the electronic/optical part category, as part of the 13th annual Automotive Awards presented by the Society of Plastics Engineer (SPE) Central Europe Division.
The awarded innovation was the integration of a microphone into the seatbelt of the 2010 model of the Audi R8 Spyder using an LPKF laser welding system to achieve a durable connection. Other participants in the program were: P.A. Schulman GmbH (resin supplier), Paragon Finesse GmbH (tooling and part manufacturer) and Takata-Petri AG (part manufacturer).
The award was presented during a reception in Düsseldorf, Germany in connection to the K 2010, the world’s largest trade show for the plastics and rubber industry.
