Edinburgh Instruments appoint new CEO

Livingston, UK –Edinburgh Instruments (EI), a manufacturer of photonics and electro-optics equipment and systems, has announced the appointment of Alan Faichney to the board as CEO, effective June 14, 2010.

Livingston, UK - Edinburgh Instruments (EI), a manufacturer of photonics and electro-optics equipment and systems, has announced the appointment of Alan Faichney to the board as CEO, effective June 14, 2010.

A highly experienced CEO, Faichney has been appointed to continue development of the business infrastructure and drive company growth.

Faichney spent 21 years at Concept Systems Limited as technical director and recently managing director and built the business into one of the leading international suppliers of advanced IT systems, solutions and services to the E&P industry.

Following the acquisition of Concept Systems by Ion Geophysical (a technology-focused seismic solutions provider) in 2004, Faichney joined Ion’s management team as senior VP in charge of R&D. He left Ion Geophysical in 2008 to join the high-growth software company DEM Solutions as COO, where he concentrated his efforts on product development and management of the company infrastructure. He is also a non executive director of OHM PLC and a director of the Scottish Charity Hatwalk.

EI founder and former CEO Prof. S. D. Smith OBE FRS FRSE remains as chief scientific officer, and as chairman of the board.

Vice chairman Prof. Malcolm Peaker FRS FRSE, of the EI board, said: “We are pleased to be able to announce Alan’s appointment to the Board as a key element of our strategy. His proven track record in industry and depth of international business experience will accelerate our international growth.”
