BeAM Machines SAS, which specializes in directed energy deposition (DED) solutions, opened its U.S. subsidiary BeAM Machines, Inc. in Cincinnati, OH earlier in 2017. The facility, operating as the BeAM Machines Solutions Center for North America, handles sales, service, process/material development, applications, R&D, and training.
The 20,000-sq-ft. facility houses a dedicated additive manufacturing workspace, metallurgical lab, applications training facility, assembly area and post process machining department. The company will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on August 31, 2017, at its facility located on 5101 Creek Road in Blue Ash, OH. Attendees will have the opportunity to view live demonstrations of the company's flagship machine, The Magic 2.0, and tour the facility.
BeAM Machines manufactures 3D additive manufacturing machines that use a combination of DED and computer numerical control (CNC). DED works by feeding metallic powder through a deposition nozzle and melting it with a high-power laser to create a layer-by-layer construction with CNC-controlled accuracy. The machines support a range of materials such as stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys, and cobalt chromium to manufacture and repair parts for clients in multiple industries, including aerospace, defense, nuclear, and oil & gas.
