3D-Micromac celebrates 15th anniversary, opens new building

Sept. 26, 2017
Laser micromachining specialist 3D-Micromac celebrated its 15th year in operation on September 7, 2017.

Laser micromachining specialist 3D-Micromac (Chemnitz, Germany) celebrated its 15th year in operation on September 7, 2017 and, at the same time, opened a new building. In addition to the anniversary and inauguration ceremony, the company welcomed laser experts to the ILaCoS in-house trade fair, which offered expert lectures and workshops dealing with current topics in laser micromachining.

The company's new building includes innovative room and workplace concepts with communicative open space elements, as well as conference areas. A customer application center gives customers the opportunity to see and try innovative laser technologies and high-precision laser systems. When planning the building, the company paid attention to maximum energy efficiency with maximum utilization of natural resources. It uses photovoltaic power generation, automatic ventilation, and heat pump systems that heat or passively cool the building automatically.

The company, which invested nearly €6 million (approx. $7 million) into the building and its equipment, was founded in Chemnitz with six employees in 2002. Now, it employs around 200 at the Chemnitz location, with plans to increase that number.
