Learn how to increase productivity when micromachining with USP lasers

Nov. 2, 2018
The presentation will describe performance limitations of USP micromachining processes and highlight how to overcome them.

Ultrashort-pulse (USP) lasers, emitting laser pulses in the pico- and femtosecond range, deliver high-quality results in micromachining applications. At the recent ICALEO conference held October 14-18, 2018 in Orlando, FL, these lasers were featured in a large number of papers presented in several sessions, where comments where heard that these lasers might be "too slow" for some industrial-grade applications. These comments point to the need for more potential end-user education on the reality of these lasers on the production floor.

Having heard these comments, Industrial Laser Solutions, the leading global publication on industrial laser material processing, is pleased to present a webcast on "How to Increase Productivity in Ultrashort-Pulsed Laser Micromachining Applications," sponsored by Lumentum and presented by Dr. Andreas Oehler, Head of Ultrafast Laser Applications at Lumentum. His presentation will describe performance limitations of USP micromachining processes and highlight how to overcome them.

Dr. Oehler holds a PhD in Ultrashort Pulse Laser Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich; Zurich, Switzerland), where he was a postdoc research scientist. He has worked in the USP industry for 20 years, with experience at JDSU and Time-Bandwidth Products prior to his eight years at Lumentum.

As host of this webcast, David Belforte, editor-in-chief of Industrial Laser Solutions, suggests that for those interested in USP laser processing and the projected high growth rate applications of the near future, tune in to this timely webcast—register now.
