The contract manufacturing specialist has added a 4 × 2 m fiber laser cutting machine with fully automated loading.

Contract manufacturing specialist MTL Advanced (Rotherham, England) has added a 4 × 2 m fiber laser cutting machine with fully automated loading.

The Trumpf TruLaser 5040 fiber laser cutting machine is the second addition of its kind in the past nine months for the company, and is part of the company-wide investment and expansion plans for 2018 following the award of multiple multi-million contracts for their blue-chip OEM customer base. The company has also started a major recruitment drive to create 59 new positions, says Karl Stewart, MTL Advanced's general manager.

The 8 kW 5040 Trumpf TruLaser comes fully fitted with the company's automated LiftMaster, and offers high-speed nitrogen cutting on a large range of materials as well as the ability to cut up to 40 mm stainless steel, 25 mm mild steel, and aluminum. The machine also has the ability to cut copper and brass up to 10 mm.

The new fiber laser cutter takes the total number of laser cutting machines at the company's Rotherham site to eight and 26 in total within the whole Group, says Michael Ellmore, MTL Advanced's head of sales.
