Machine tool maker Cincinnati Inc. (CI; Harrison, OH) has introduced its CLX fiber laser cutting machine that improves functionality in a lights-out environment. The 3 × 1.5 m and 4 × 2 m dual-pallet system has half the total frame weight of previous iterations. Its improved intelligence allows the machine to take care of itself, keep things moving, and keep cutting material, helped by an intuitive and powerful CI control, dual 22-in. touchscreen monitors, and four interior cameras with different aspect ratios.
The machine’s 15 kW Corona fiber laser source is from nLIGHT (Vancouver, WA), and CI predictive technology allows users to easily maintain rather than repair. Other features include IoT integration, remote communication, and useful software help tools. A Laser Mechanisms (Novi, MI) software package lets operators track what’s going on with the head in real time.
